Bunny Bait

I saw this fun little Easter idea on Pinterest a few weeks ago and knew immediately that it was going on my short list of things I pin and will actually use / do / make. It’s a snack mix called Bunny Bait. I decided to do a little trial run before Easter and OH MY GOSH… I will be making a lot of this over the next couple of weeks. If you know me in real life, you have officially been warned (hehe).

It was surprisingly difficult to find Easter coloured M+Ms (I finally found them at Bulk Barn, where I also grabbed white chocolate candy coating and some pastel coloured star sprinkles). The popcorn I had. And instead of breaking up pretzel sticks, I found some small alphabet-shaped pretzels at Superstore that are beyond perfect.

In the end, once the ingredients were all in my kitchen, this was the easiest thing to make. EVER. It’s all done in the microwave. And the other bloggers were right… It’s crack in popcorn form. I don’t even really like white chocolate, and I can’t stop eating it.

This is a truly terrible photo, but you get the idea…

I had barely dumped it out to dry when Briony walked into the dining room. Her eyes got HUGE and she immediately asked to try some. I told her that it was Bunny Bait. She hesitated for only a moment, then ran upstairs and returned a few seconds later with her bunny ears headband on.

I LOVE THIS KID. Really, how could I resist?

My Bunny Bait worked like a charm (hehe).

  1. Hey Lindsay what amounts did you use for the pretzels? and what size bag of m&m’s? I eyeballed it and made a batch but just wonder what you did. I’m thinking I will love this even though I’m not a kid!

  2. Hi Margaret! I eyeballed it off the original recipe too… I ended up using 1/3 cup unpopped popcorn, 1 cup pretzels, 1/2 cup M+Ms, and around 2 tbsp sprinkles. The white chocolate coating I bought from Bulk Barn came in chunks – and I used one chunk, but I have no idea what that would work out to be. Next time, I would back off on the white chocolate just a touch and add more pretzels – the salt in there is AMAZING and they were my favourite part. I’d love to know how yours turns out!

  3. It was SOOOO good!!! I used one bag of microwave popcorn, about 1/2 cup of M&M’s, 1/2 cup of pretzels and about 6 oz of white chocolate wafers. AND I happened to have pastel pink and purple sprinkles in my cupboard! I agree – more pretzels, less chocolate next time and more sprinkles. :) I served it to my friends tonight while we were playing cards; she loved it and scribbled down the recipe to make with her granddaughters this week. Thanks for sharing this recipe!! I will make it again.

AND I watched Mad Men tonight – good show!
